Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th District, took to social media to express his views on various issues at the beginning of February 2025. His tweets touched upon Black History Month and economic concerns affecting middle-class families in New Jersey.

On February 1, 2025, Rep. Gottheimer recognized Black History Month by celebrating the contributions of the Black community in his district. "Happy Black History Month! This month, and every month, we celebrate the incredible contributions of Jersey’s Black community across NJ-5."

The following day, February 2, 2025, he addressed economic challenges faced by middle-class families due to rising costs of everyday goods. He criticized the President's decision to impose a tariff on Mexico and Canada: "Middle class families are already struggling to make ends meet with the high cost of everyday goods. Instead of offering a real plan to lower costs, the President is making things worse by slapping a 25% tariff on our closest trading partners, Mexico and Canada."

Additionally, on February 2, 2025, Rep. Gottheimer expressed disapproval over a new tax impacting New Jersey families: "President Trump just whacked Jersey families with a NEW $830 A YEAR TAX. It’s utterly absurd."
