The “AmeriCorps New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors Program”

The “AmeriCorps New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors Program” is an AmeriCorps  program administered by the DEP ’s Water Resource Management. Watershed and Source Water Protection Ambassadors serve throughout New Jersey as environmental stewards, serving with their local watershed communities to implement Best Management Practices (BMPs), Waterbody Clean Ups, Educational Presentations, Stream Assessments, and more!

 1,084 Educational Presentations  

 59 Environmental Stewardship Trainings (ESTs) 

 42 Trash Clean Up events 

 35 Additional Partnership Projects 

 1,357 Bags (14.5 tons) of trash and recycling removed 

 5,082 Native trees and shrubs planted 

 192 Bags of invasive species removed 

 7 Rain gardens planted or maintained  

 132 Rain barrels built 

 674 Acres cleaned/ restored/ planted 

 90 Miles of streams cleaned 

 5,243,200 Gallons of stormwater prevented from entering local waterbodies 

 198 Stream assessments completed  

 22,616 Students educated  

 2,468 Volunteers engaged in stewardship  

 7,129.5 Hours volunteers spent serving
