He emphasized the importance of local journalism by saying "Strong, independent local journalism is vital to any healthy democracy and an informed public — and it must be preserved."
In another post on March 12, 2025, Gottheimer highlighted his concerns regarding cuts to the U.S. Department of Education's budget. Reflecting on his personal connection as a son of a teacher, he stated "As the son of a teacher, I know the US Department of Education provides critical support and resources for Jersey’s students with disabilities, early childhood education, and our teachers. Gutting it is reckless and will hurt our children."
