Josh Gottheimer, currently serving as a U.S. Congressman for New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, has utilized social media to communicate his stance on economic and national security issues. With a background stemming from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University, Gottheimer has made it clear through his tweets that he is actively addressing pressing concerns related to tariffs and national security threats.

In a tweet posted on April 18, 2025, Rep. Josh Gottheimer expressed concerns about the impact of tariffs on small businesses and families, stating, "Small businesses and hardworking families will be crushed by reckless tariffs. That’s why I introduced the Trade Review Act to ensure no president can abuse 'national emergency' powers to whack us with tariffs without any approval from Congress."

Later that day, Rep. Gottheimer shared his perspective on national security, specifically regarding China, with a tweet stating, "Glad to see the House Select Committee on China @CommitteeonCCP confirm what I’ve been warning: the Chinese Communist Party is using DeepSeek to spy on Americans and spread disinformation. It’s a five alarm national security fire. I’m leading the charge to protect our national."

Further emphasizing economic issues, Gottheimer criticized tariffs associated with former President Trump, commenting on April 18, 2025, "Trump’s tariffs will kneecap Jersey families. This week, @federalreserve Chair Jerome Powell confirmed tariffs will fuel 'higher inflation and slower growth.' This is pure economic chaos."

Josh Gottheimer has represented New Jersey's 5th district since 2017, succeeding former congressman Scott Garrett. Born in 1975 in Livingston, New Jersey, Gottheimer now resides in Wyckoff and maintains active involvement in economic and national legislative matters.
