On March 10, 2025, Gottheimer criticized the Trump Administration's decision to close 47 Social Security field offices. He expressed concern that this action "will cause severe delays to our seniors’ checks & benefits". In response, he mentioned his Senior Security Strategy aimed at protecting seniors from what he describes as "far-right extremist chaos."
The following day, on March 11, Gottheimer addressed another pressing issue concerning veterans' services. He opposed the reduction of workforce at the Department of Veterans Affairs by stating that cutting 80K workers "will only hurt those who risked their lives to defend our freedoms."
