Representative Josh Gottheimer, who has been serving as a U.S. Congressman for New Jersey’s 5th District since 2017, made several statements via social media addressing national security concerns and antisemitism issues.
On March 27, 2025, Gottheimer criticized Secretary Pete Hegseth's actions, expressing that they have heightened risks for service members and their missions. Gottheimer stated: "Secretary Hegseth’s reckless actions increased the risks to brave men and women and the mission they faced. He should resign and be replaced by someone who can properly protect sensitive information."
Later that same day, Gottheimer reaffirmed his stance on the matter, emphasizing the need for accountability and strong leadership for American service members. He insisted: "The American people deserve accountability, and our service members who protect our country deserve only the best leadership. Secretary Pete Hegseth must resign."
On March 28, 2025, Gottheimer addressed an antisemitic attack, condemning it as a clear act of hatred. He also highlighted legislative efforts to combat antisemitism, stating: "This attack was a blatant act of antisemitism — plain and simple. As antisemitism and hate are on the rise, I’m fighting to pass my bipartisan, bicameral Antisemitism Awareness Act into law to protect our Jewish community."
