Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district, has taken to social media to address concerns about security at MetLife Stadium and funding for law enforcement operations. In a series of tweets dated November 26, 2024, he discusses his initiatives to ensure public safety and secure federal funding.

In one tweet, Gottheimer emphasizes the importance of providing law enforcement with necessary resources for safety at events held at MetLife Stadium. He states, "Law enforcement must have all the resources they need to keep us safe at every single match played at @MetLifeStadium." He mentions writing a letter to Secretary Mayorkas and Director Wray, urging them to designate these matches as Level 1 Special Event Assessment Rating Events.

In another post from the same date, Gottheimer announces a bipartisan effort with colleague Rep. LaHood aimed at securing federal funds for security operations. He notes, "I’m writing a bipartisan letter with my colleague @RepLaHood to the leaders of House and Senate Appropriations Committees to request $625 million in federal dollars, including $65 million for Jersey."

Additionally, Gottheimer explains the significance of obtaining a Level 1 designation for events held at MetLife Stadium. According to him, "This Level 1 designation recognizes the highest level of security preparedness is required for an event of this magnitude." This designation would allow more funding and better coordination between law enforcement agencies.
