Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, recently took to social media to discuss various issues affecting his constituents. His tweets covered topics ranging from legislative initiatives related to drone safety to paying tribute to a notable figure from New Jersey.

On December 11, 2024, Rep. Gottheimer announced new legislation aimed at enhancing public safety concerning drones. He stated, "While I'm not concerned about any imminent threats, the public deserves answers and for New Jersey to not become the Wild West." He emphasized the importance of investing in radar technology that would enable local law enforcement agencies to monitor drone activity effectively.

The following day, on December 12, 2024, he expressed condolences over the passing of "the Amazing Kreskin," describing him as a "New Jersey legend." Gottheimer noted Kreskin's significant impact through his career by stating: "The world has lost a New Jersey legend, the Amazing Kreskin. His extraordinary career mesmerized millions and brought so much joy."

Later that same day, Rep. Gottheimer called for more transparency from federal agencies regarding drone activities. He urged entities such as the FBI, DHS, and FAA to release information promptly by saying: "Enough droning on with delays. The FBI, DHS, and FAA must immediately make more information available to the public about recent drone activity." This call was part of his broader efforts to prevent New Jersey from becoming an unchecked zone for drones.
