Cutting Through the Stigma: NAMI and The Confess Project

For many in the Black community, it can be incredibly challenging to discuss the topic of mental health, due to how they may be perceived by others. This fear could prevent people from seeking mental health care when they really need it. Organizations such as The Confess Project of America work to eliminate this stigma. Hear directly from barbers, their customers, counselors, NAMI members and individuals from The Confess Project about how barbershops serve as a place of community connection and emotional well-being. Learn how barbers are helping fight stigma through open and honest conversation for boys, men, and their families in the Black community, and how they can be a springboard to mental health care access and connection to support communities like NAMI.
