In the early hours of April 21, 2025, Gottheimer commented on Pete Hegseth’s actions, suggesting that they endangered U.S. service members. He tweeted, "Pete Hegseth’s reckless actions are directly endangering the lives of our brave service members. As I said before, and as a member of the House Intelligence Committee, he should be fired and replaced by someone who can properly protect America’s sensitive information".
