Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district, shared several tweets on March 9, 2025, addressing significant geopolitical and security issues. Gottheimer, who has been serving since replacing Scott Garrett in 2017, is known for his active role in legislative matters concerning national security and international relations.

On March 9, Rep. Gottheimer expressed approval of recent actions by the White House regarding cybersecurity measures: "I’m glad to see the White House is following suit after I led bipartisan, bicameral legislation to ban DeepSeek from Gov. devices." He emphasized concerns over China's use of technology to disseminate disinformation and undermine democratic processes.

Later that day, Gottheimer addressed reports about an American citizen held hostage: "Reports that American Edan Alexander is being tortured by Hamas terrorists make me sick." He highlighted the plight of Edan Alexander, a New Jersey native held hostage for over 500 days, urging decisive action against Hamas.

In another post on the same day, he called attention to Turkey's regional actions under President Erdoğan: "We must push back against Turkey’s aggression under President Erdoğan." He accused Turkey of destabilizing efforts and supporting terrorist organizations while warning against transgressions towards allies like Cyprus, Greece, and Israel.
