Representative Josh Gottheimer, currently serving in the U.S. Congress for New Jersey's 5th District, shared several messages on social media on February 17, 2025. The posts addressed topics ranging from Presidents Day to international hostilities and personal appeals concerning hostages.

In his first message of the day, Rep. Gottheimer marked Presidents Day by acknowledging past leaders who have contributed to upholding the United States Constitution. He stated: "Happy #PresidentsDay, Jersey! Today, we reflect on and honor those who have led us to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, ensuring we remain the greatest nation in the world." This post was made at 16:00 UTC.

Later that day at 22:34 UTC, Rep. Gottheimer shifted focus to international matters with a post addressing recent hostilities involving Hamas. He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace while not forgetting past events: "While we must continue to ensure the pause in hostilities holds and every single hostage is brought home, we must never forget the horrific acts of terror carried out by Hamas on October 7."

In another tweet posted at exactly the same time as his previous message, he expressed concern over individuals still held captive following these events. He wrote about his constituent Edan Alexander among others affected: "Today, 73 people remain in captivity, including five Americans. My heart goes out to the families who desperately want to see their loved ones, especially the family of my constituent, Edan Alexander, from Tenafly, New Jersey."
