Rep. Josh Gottheimer, representing New Jersey’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared his views and initiatives through a series of tweets. Gottheimer, who succeeded Scott Garrett in 2017, continues to advocate for policies impacting his constituents.
On February 13, 2025, Rep. Gottheimer expressed concern over a budget proposal by what he described as "House far-right extremists." He stated that the plan would severely impact programs relied upon by millions of Americans and vowed to "fight tooth and nail to protect programs that Jersey families depend on."
Later that day, he extended congratulations to Monty and Katie from New Jersey for their victory at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. He celebrated their achievement by stating that "our furry friends are making Jersey proud on the world stage."
On February 14, 2025, Rep. Gottheimer announced his intention to introduce legislation aimed at assisting veterans with accessing benefits more efficiently. He highlighted issues with the current VA appeals process which can take up to a year and a half for decisions. To address this, he plans to propose the VA Appeals Reform Act designed to streamline processes and reduce delays."First, we must do more to help veterans access their hard-earned benefits," he asserted.
