Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, expressed his thoughts and concerns on social media following a tragic aviation accident over the Potomac River. The incident involved a collision between a plane and a helicopter, resulting in significant loss.

On January 31, 2025, Rep. Gottheimer acknowledged the efforts of emergency personnel responding to the disaster. He stated: "I’m also incredibly grateful to all the first responders who have been working tirelessly in the face of this disaster."

In another post on the same day, he emphasized the importance of ensuring airspace safety to prevent future tragedies. He wrote: "As we pray for the victims and their families, we must also do everything in our power to ensure our air space is safe and that this tragedy can never happen again."

Continuing his remarks on January 31, 2025, Rep. Gottheimer expressed his condolences to those affected by the accident while monitoring developments related to it. He conveyed: "While I continue to monitor the plane and helicopter collision over the Potomac, my heart goes out to all of the families who are impacted by this incredible loss."
