On April 8, 2025, he tweeted, "President Trump’s tariffs are slashing people’s retirement savings and sending markets plummeting. And now, top economists from Moody’s and J.P. Morgan are predicting a recession. We need lower costs — not more chaos."
The following day, April 9, 2025, Gottheimer highlighted his legislative efforts regarding public safety. He emphasized the need for investment in law enforcement by tweeting, "You can’t cut or defund your way to safer communities. You can have both justice and public safety. My bipartisan Invest to Protect Act will make critical investments in law enforcement — in training, in recruitment and retention of officers, and in mental health — to protect"
