Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey's 5th district since 2017, recently took to social media to discuss his initiatives aimed at combating hunger among schoolchildren. Gottheimer, who has been active in legislative efforts to address food insecurity in schools, shared details of his plans through a series of tweets.

On March 17, 2025, Rep. Gottheimer tweeted about the importance of ensuring students have the necessary resources for success: "Our students are rockets preparing to take off to a successful life and career, but they won’t reach their dreams without fuel in the tank." He emphasized his Stop School Hunger Plan as a means to prevent children in New Jersey from worrying about their next meal while attending school.

In another tweet on the same day, he highlighted his support for broader legislation: "I also helped introduce the Universal School Meals Bill to provide meals to all schoolchildren..." This bill aims to simplify access by eliminating application paperwork and increasing reimbursement rates for schools.

Additionally, Gottheimer reiterated his long-standing commitment to improving school meal programs with another post: "I’ve also long fought to strengthen school meal programs so no child goes hungry." He referenced previous legislative efforts such as the No Hungry Kids in Schools Act designed to remove bureaucratic barriers that hinder access for many families.
