Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey's 5th district since 2017, has recently shared several updates on social media regarding his legislative efforts and concerns for his constituents. Gottheimer, who was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University, continues to advocate for various issues affecting veterans and residents of New Jersey.

On February 14, 2025, Rep. Josh Gottheimer announced his introduction of the No Veteran Should Go Hungry Act aimed at assisting veterans during their transition from military to civilian life. He stated: "I’m also introducing the No Veteran Should Go Hungry Act to help connect our service members with access to food assistance programs, including SNAP and WIC, during their transition from military to civilian life."

The following day, on February 15, 2025, he expressed relief over the return of Sagui Dekel-Chen to his family. He pledged continued efforts to ensure all hostages are brought home safely: "I’m relieved that Sagui Dekel-Chen is finally on his way home to his family and loved ones. I will not rest until all the hostages, including every American and my constituent, Edan Alexander, are brought home."

Later that same day, Rep. Gottheimer highlighted the reliance of more than 800k New Jersey residents on SNAP benefits for food security. He criticized certain political factions for attempting to reduce support for these essential services: "More than 800k Jersey residents depend on SNAP to put food on the table, including nearly 300k children. I won’t stand by as far-right extremists try to keep food off the table for families and strip away critical support for Jersey’s most vulnerable."
