Representative Josh Gottheimer, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, recently shared updates on his legislative activities and initiatives via social media. Born in Livingston, New Jersey, Gottheimer has a background in law with degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University.

On November 25, 2024, Rep. Josh Gottheimer announced his new role as Co-Chair of the bipartisan Law Enforcement Caucus. In his tweet, he expressed his commitment to public safety by stating: "I’m honored to be named Co-Chair of the bipartisan Law Enforcement Caucus. We must protect our families and get the backs of those who sacrifice to keep our communities safe. As Co-Chair, I will help ensure we do just that."

The following day, on November 26, 2024, Gottheimer highlighted progress related to infrastructure improvements facilitated by federal legislation. He noted: "The first part of the Portal Bridge floated up to its construction site. This is possible thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill that I helped craft and pass to claw back billions of $ back to NJ for the Gateway Program — improving transit." This initiative aims at enhancing transportation within New Jersey.

Later on November 26, 2024, Gottheimer addressed security measures in anticipation of a major international event hosted by New Jersey. He tweeted: "Our security is not a ball that we can kick down the field until it’s too late. That’s why, ahead of NJ hosting the 2026 World Cup, I’m announcing bipartisan action with local and state police to keep our families safe." The announcement underscores efforts towards ensuring public safety during significant events.
