Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, has been active on social media discussing various achievements and legislative efforts. Born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975, Gottheimer graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University.
On June 16, 2025, Rep. Gottheimer extended his congratulations to the Ridgewood Girls’ Flag Football Team and their Head Coach Mickey McDermott for winning their third consecutive state championship. He noted North Jersey’s pride in their accomplishments and highlighted their impressive record over the last two years: “Congratulations to the Ridgewood Girls’ Flag Football Team and their Head Coach Mickey McDermott on their third consecutive state championship! North Jersey is so proud of your accomplishments, including an impressive 46-2 record in the last two years!”
The following day, June 17, 2025, he addressed concerns regarding American innovation protection against foreign adversaries like China. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding national security through legislative measures such as the bipartisan Advanced AI Security Readiness Act: “With U.S. entrepreneurs under threat from foreign adversaries like China, we must protect American innovation from espionage and theft.”
Later that day, Rep. Gottheimer shared his commitment to protecting vulnerable seniors within the LGBTQ+ community through proposed legislation called the Elder Pride Protection Act. The act aims to address abuse issues faced by these seniors: “No one, especially our most vulnerable seniors, should ever be mistreated because of who they are or who they love.”
