U.S. Representative Josh Gottheimer has called for bipartisan cooperation to address the ongoing government shutdown and rising health care costs, according to a series of posts made on November 5, 2025.

In a tweet posted at 18:06 UTC, Gottheimer stated, “Democrats and Republicans need to sit down and figure out how to reopen the government in a responsible, bipartisan way and protect families from rising health care costs. As a problem solver, I’m committed to doing just that.”

Later that day at 20:17 UTC, he added, “Democrats and Republicans can sit down, listen to one another, and find common ground, especially when it comes to lowering health care costs. It’s time to find a bipartisan deal to extend the ACA tax credits, reopen the government, lower costs, and give families stability ASAP.”

Addressing concerns about food assistance benefits on November 5 at 22:14 UTC, Gottheimer wrote: “With families losing access to their SNAP benefits this month, Passaic County is hosting events this week to help ensure families continue to have food. For more information visit “

Gottheimer currently serves as the U.S. Congressman for New Jersey’s 5th district after succeeding Scott Garrett in 2017. Born in Livingston in 1975 and now residing in Wyckoff, he holds degrees from both the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
