Rep. Josh Gottheimer, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district, recently shared a series of tweets addressing pressing issues. His statements reflect concerns about public safety, economic pressures, and international conflicts.

On April 14, Gottheimer recalled a tragic incident from 2020 where a violent extremist posed as a FedEx delivery man and shot and killed Judge Salas’ only child, Daniel. He expressed disapproval that “her late son’s name is being used to intimidate other judges — it’s disgusting”. Gottheimer emphasized the need for the protection of judges and their families.

The following day, April 15, he highlighted the financial struggles faced by New Jersey families, stating that they are “feeling crushed by the economy than at nearly any other time in American history,” attributing significant economic hardship to Trump’s tariffs. He insisted that “We must restore consumer confidence, and lower costs of everyday goods, and make life” affordable for families.

Later that same day, Gottheimer drew attention to the plight of Edan Alexander, a Tenafly, New Jersey native, who has been held by Hamas for over 550 days. He condemned Hamas as a terrorist organization that exploits civilians as human shields and vowed continued efforts until all hostages, including five Americans, are freed. He declared “We will not rest until Hamas is crushed and all of the hostages, including the five Americans, are” liberated.

Josh Gottheimer, 48, was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and resides in Wyckoff. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997 with a BA and holds a JD from Harvard University since 2004.
