Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, recently used his social media platform to highlight Jewish American Heritage Month, announce constituent services in Northvale, and commemorate the release of Edan Alexander from Hamas captivity.
On May 14, 2026, Gottheimer posted his appreciation for the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and underscored the importance of recognizing Jewish American contributions: “Thank you @ADL for hosting me to celebrate this year’s Jewish American Heritage Month in Washington. This month, we recognize the contributions of Jewish Americans to our society and re-commit ourselves to fighting the scourge of antisemitism in our country.”
Later that day, he informed constituents about upcoming mobile office hours: “The #TeamGottheimer Constituent Services Team will be holding mobile office hours in Northvale today, Thursday, May 14. If you’re experiencing an issue with your VA benefits, Social Security, Medicare, or need help with a federal agency, we’re here to listen and help.”
On May 15, Gottheimer marked the anniversary of Edan Alexander’s release from captivity: “One year ago this week, Edan Alexander was released from Hamas captivity. Edan showed extraordinary bravery while he was held in captivity by barbaric Hamas terrorists for 584 anguishing days. The strength of the Alexander family was a guiding light in an incredibly dark period.”
Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th District since succeeding Scott Garrett in 2017. Born in Livingston in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff at age 48, he holds degrees from both the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
