Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who has represented New Jersey’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, highlighted local achievements and campus issues in a series of posts on May 9, 2026.
In one post, Gottheimer congratulated student artists from his district: “Congratulations to the Fifth District Congressional Art Competition winners Marcel Wolosik of Hamburg, Serena Jun of River Edge, and Edward Cebulski of Midland Park! I’m looking forward to seeing their incredible art displayed in the Capitol and in my offices for the next year!” (May 9, 2026).
Later that day, he commented on Rutgers University’s decision regarding its graduation ceremony: “Good on @RutgersU for recognizing that graduation should not platform voices that promote hate. All students deserve to feel safe and respected on campus, especially at their graduation. Rutgers made the right call.” (May 9, 2026).
Gottheimer also referenced collaborative efforts with local officials: “I’m proud of the work I’ve done with Tenafly Councilman Roglieri and the Mayor Zinna to claw back federal dollars from Washington to protect Jersey families, law enforcement, fire fighters, and EMTs. We will always get the backs of our first responders!” (May 9, 2026).
Gottheimer was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff. He holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a JD from Harvard University.
