Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, used social media on October 31, 2025 to address rising utility and health care costs for New Jersey residents while reminding constituents of key property tax deadlines.

In a post from the morning of October 31, Gottheimer highlighted ongoing increases in household expenses: “After Jersey families were hit with a 40% increase last year, utility bills are only continuing to soar. We need an all-the-above energy approach to lower costs, and my Lower Utility Bills Plan will put more money back in your pocket & help offset costs.”

Later that day, he urged New Jersey residents to take advantage of available tax relief: “New Jersey, be sure to apply for the Stay NJ property tax benefit! Deadline to apply is today, October 31st. Read more “

Addressing another financial concern for families, Gottheimer posted about health care affordability as open enrollment began: “Open enrollment starts this weekend, and health care costs will be far too expensive for many families. We need to both reopen the government in a bipartisan way and extend the ACA tax credits to stop health care from being ripped away from millions.”

Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th District since defeating Scott Garrett in 2017. Born in Livingston in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff, he holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
