Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who represents New Jersey’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform this week to highlight legislative initiatives and community engagement activities focused on school nutrition and combating antisemitism.
On May 9, 2026, Gottheimer posted about introducing new legislation: “It’s been a busy week in Jersey! I introduced the ‘Feed Our Kids’ Act to combat the insane cuts to school meals in the Farm Bill and ensure that all students in Jersey can access free, nutritious meals. When 1 in 7 children go hungry every day, it’s common sense.”
Later that day, he welcomed students from Yavneh Academy of Paramus to his Washington office. In a tweet dated May 9, 2026, he wrote: “Great to welcome students from Yavneh Academy in Paramus, NJ to my office in Washington, D.C.
Addressing concerns over hate crimes in his district on May 9 as well, Gottheimer stated: “The rise in antisemitic incidents in Bergen County is deeply alarming. Hate has no place in our communities, schools, or country, whether that’s against someone who is Jewish, Muslim, or Catholic.
I will continue to speak out as I have when the President attacked on the Pope or”
Gottheimer has served New Jersey’s 5th District since defeating Scott Garrett in 2017. He was born in Livingston and currently resides in Wyckoff at age 48. His educational background includes a BA from the University of Pennsylvania (1997) and a JD from Harvard University (2004).
