Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who represents New Jersey’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several local issues and achievements in a series of social media posts from August 14 to August 15, 2025.
On August 14, Gottheimer criticized the current state of New Jersey’s energy infrastructure, singling out PJM, the regional power grid operator. He stated: “While utility bill credits are a start, we must do more to address Jersey’s severe energy capacity problems, only made worse by power grid operator PJM’s jaw-dropping incompetence. Jersey families need real long-term solutions to lower utility bills — not crumbs of relief.” (August 14, 2025)
Later that evening, Gottheimer recognized Joe Bianco for his contributions to North Jersey communities and specifically his role in Closter. The Congressman wrote: “Joe Bianco has spent decades helping shape the development of North Jersey’s neighborhoods and has served Closter families as both a Councilman and Mayor — playing a critical role in securing funding for the Closter Senior Citizens Center. Thank you to Closter Councilwoman” (August 14, 2025)
On August 15, Gottheimer congratulated Ed Kiziukiewicz for his ongoing service as an open-water lifeguard at age 82: “In Jersey, we’re built different. Congrats to Ed Kiziukiewicz on being the nation’s oldest active open-water lifeguard at 82 years old — still keeping our families safe down at the Shore with no signs of slowing down!” (August 15, 2025)
Josh Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th District since defeating Scott Garrett in 2017. Born in Livingston in 1975 and now residing in Wyckoff, he is an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Law School.
