Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who represents New Jersey’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently highlighted legislative efforts focused on family safety and affordability in a series of social media posts.
On November 2, 2025, Gottheimer addressed concerns about the growing popularity of electric bicycles: “E-bikes are on the rise, but we need to make sure that families take precautions and stay safe when using them. I introduced legislation to help ensure they do. Watch https://t.co/3KxzVHbGSk”
Later that day, he announced new bipartisan legislation aimed at supporting youth sports participation: “I’m proud to be leading the bipartisan PLAY Act to give families tax credits to make youth sports more affordable. Every kid in Jersey deserves a chance to play, not sit on the sidelines because of rising costs. https://t.co/dvpMShhe8l”
On November 3, 2025, Gottheimer discussed his advocacy for rare disease research following a meeting with AlphaFriend: “I was proud to meet with @AlphaFriend as we fight to keep Jersey families healthy and get them the treatments they need and deserve, especially for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. I will always fight for more investments in rare disease and medical research. https://t.co/ZkXcCwlw1I”
Gottheimer has served as the representative for New Jersey’s 5th District since replacing Scott Garrett in 2017. Born in Livingston in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff, he holds degrees from both the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
