Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who represents New Jersey’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several key issues facing his constituents in a series of tweets posted on August 2, 2025.
In one post from the afternoon, Gottheimer congratulated local healthcare institutions for their recent achievements: “Congrats to @englewoodhosp and @ValleyHealthNJ for being ranked among the best hospitals in Jersey — and @HMHNewJersey for ranking in the best in the country! From clawing back our federal dollars to strengthening rare disease research, I’ll always support our healthcare workers” (August 2, 2025).
Later that evening, he commented on proposed changes to Social Security by members of the Trump Administration: “.@SecScottBessent said the quiet part out loud: the Trump Administration wants to privatize Social Security and slash seniors’ hard-earned benefits. Just another assault on our seniors from the Trump Administration. We need to protect the critical benefits our seniors rely on —” (August 2, 2025).
In a subsequent tweet that night, Gottheimer reflected on bipartisan cooperation and legislative priorities: “I’ve been clear: I wish this White House did more to reach across the aisle. But that won’t stop me from fighting for commonsense, bipartisan solutions to make life more affordable for Jersey families. There’s no shortage of challenges facing our country, but if we work” (August 2, 2025).
Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th District since defeating Scott Garrett in 2017 and is known for focusing on healthcare policy and advocating for bipartisan solutions. He was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff. Gottheimer holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania (1997) and a JD from Harvard University (2004).
