Rep. Josh Gottheimer, U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, used his social media platform on May 4, 2026, to address issues ranging from child hunger and support for educators to breast cancer advocacy.
In a post published at 13:00 UTC, Gottheimer stated, “No child in America should go hungry — especially not in school. That’s why I’m pushing changes to the Farm Bill that will expand access to school meals, cut red tape, and support our local farmers.”
Later that day at 16:00 UTC, he recognized the contributions of teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. He wrote, “Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all of Jersey’s incredible educators! As the son of a public school teacher, I know how hard you work to support our students. I’ll always get your back and fight to ensure you have the resources and respect you deserve.”
At 19:00 UTC on the same day, Gottheimer highlighted his meeting with advocates from the Susan G. Komen Foundation regarding breast cancer screening and research efforts. He posted, “Always happy to meet with advocates from Susan G. Komen Foundation to discuss expanding access to breast cancer screening, lowering costs, and supporting lifesaving research. As a member of the Cancer Caucus, I’m proud to stand with advocates and continue fighting for critical”.
Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th District in Congress since defeating Scott Garrett in 2017. Born in Livingston in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff at age 48, he holds degrees from both the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
