Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, used his social media platform on April 15, 2026, to inform constituents about upcoming services and legislative priorities.
In a tweet posted at 1:15 p.m., Gottheimer announced that his constituent services team would be available in Cresskill for mobile office hours. He wrote, “The #TeamGottheimer Constituent Services Team will be holding mobile office hours in Cresskill on Wednesday April 15. If you’re experiencing an issue with your VA benefits, Social Security, Medicare, or need help with a federal agency, we’re here to listen & help.”
Later that day at 4:00 p.m., Gottheimer addressed tax policy concerns related to marriage penalties under the state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap. He stated, “Tax Day is here, and let’s be honest, those tax bills are ugly. No one should be paying more just because they’re married. I’m fighting to eliminate the SALT marriage penalty and put money back in your pocket.”
At 7:01 p.m., he provided travel advice for summer vacationers regarding passport validity and assistance with potential delays. His tweet read, “Planning summer travel? Make sure your passport doesn’t expire within six months of your trip. If you run into issues or need help navigating passport delays, our casework team is always here to help! You can call us at 201-389-1100.”
Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th District since replacing Scott Garrett in 2017. Born in Livingston in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff, he holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University.
