Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district, has expressed his views on recent political developments through a series of tweets. These posts highlight his concerns regarding national priorities and actions taken by President Trump.
On January 21, 2025, Rep. Gottheimer shared his dissatisfaction with current national priorities. He stated, “These priorities fall far short of addressing the real needs of our nation. They do nothing to lower costs for Jersey families and only further divide us with hate and fear.”
Later that day, he criticized President Trump’s decision to issue pardons, noting specifically the pardon of individuals involved in the Capitol insurrection. He remarked, “This is who President Trump pardoned — one of more than 1500 lawless thugs that beat our police officers and held a violent insurrection in our Capitol.”
In an interview with CNN’s Kate Bolduan on the morning of January 21, 2025, Rep. Gottheimer discussed what he described as harmful actions by President Trump at the start of his second term. He commented on social media about this appearance: “This morning, I spoke with @KateBolduan on CNN about the harmful actions taken by @POTUS in the first hours of his second term… Instead of focusing on making life more affordable, President Trump pardoned thousands of lawless thugs who attacked law enforcement & our democracy…”
