Rep. Josh Gottheimer, U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, posted a series of statements on social media between May 22 and May 23 addressing national leadership transitions and support for medical research.
On May 22, Gottheimer expressed appreciation for Director of National Intelligence Gabbard’s service, stating, “I’d like to thank Director of National Intelligence Gabbard for her service to our nation. Wishing her husband, Abraham, a full and speedy recovery, and sending strength and comfort to her family in the days ahead.”
The following day, he reiterated his message and addressed the importance of filling the intelligence role promptly: “I’d like to thank DNI Director Gabbard for your service to our nation. Wishing her husband Abraham, a full and speedy recovery, and sending strength and comfort to her family in the days ahead. The president should fill this role as quickly as possible with a highly qualified”
Later on May 23, Rep. Gottheimer turned attention toward medical research during National Cancer Research Month: “This National Cancer Research Month, we honor the researchers, doctors, nurses, survivors, and families on the front lines. We’ve made real progress — but the work isn’t done. That’s why I’m fighting in Washington for more NIH funding to drive the next breakthrough.”
Gottheimer has served in Congress since replacing Scott Garrett in 2017. He was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff at age 48. He holds degrees from both the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
