Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who represents New Jersey’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on social media addressing ongoing issues in his constituency, including wildfires, veteran recognition, and public health threats.

On September 3, 2025, Gottheimer wrote about the response to fires across New Jersey: “My team and I are monitoring the ongoing fires across New Jersey, including in West Milford. We are also in touch with local officials to ensure first responders have what they need to keep families safe. Our firefighters are the best in the world, and I can’t thank them enough”.

Later that day, he highlighted efforts to support veterans: “One of the biggest honors of my job is to help veterans like Savos Loukides and their families get the recognition they’ve rightfully earned. We must always get the backs of veterans who’ve fought so hard to protect our lives and freedoms.”

On September 4, 2025, Gottheimer addressed public health concerns regarding tick-borne diseases: “With tick-borne diseases on the rise, we must step up to address this critical threat to public health. That’s why I introduced new bipartisan legislation to help protect Jersey families from the harmful effects of these bites.”

Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th district since replacing Scott Garrett in 2017. He was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff. Gottheimer holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a JD from Harvard University.
