Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, addressed issues ranging from technology costs to national security and healthcare in a series of posts on his social media account this week.
On March 19, 2026, Gottheimer raised concerns about energy expenses related to data centers operated by large technology companies, stating: “Jersey families and small businesses shouldn’t pay Big Tech’s power bills for data centers.”
Later that day, Gottheimer posted an exchange regarding U.S.-Israel relations and recent policy decisions. He wrote: “Gottheimer: Did Israel force the US’s hand and make us take action as some have claimed? @DCIARatcliffe: No. Gottheimer: Director Gabbard, do you agree with the CIA Director’s assessment on that last question in particular? @DNIGabbard: Yes.” The post references responses from officials identified as DCIARatcliffe and DNIGabbard.
On March 20, 2026, Gottheimer acknowledged the work of eye care professionals by posting: “Great to see the American Optometric Association and connect with such dedicated professionals working to protect and improve eye health in our communities. Thank you for all you do to ensure families have access to quality vision care!”
Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th District since defeating Scott Garrett in 2017. Born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975, he currently resides in Wyckoff. He holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania (1997) and a JD from Harvard University (2004).
