Rep. Josh Gottheimer, U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, addressed several issues affecting his constituents in a series of tweets posted on February 19, 2026.
In one post from the morning of February 19, Gottheimer highlighted concerns about access to REAL ID appointments for New Jersey residents. He wrote, “Jersey residents deserve timely access to REAL ID appointments, especially with the new $45 fee if you don’t have it while flying. The incoming NJ Motor Vehicle Commission administrator just inherited this issue, and I look forward to working with MVC to ensure residents can get” (February 19, 2026).
Later that day, he focused on housing affordability challenges facing local families and first responders. In his tweet, Gottheimer stated, “Bottom line: we’ve got to make housing more affordable for families. Hard-working Jersey families and our first responders shouldn’t be priced out of their own communities.” (February 19, 2026).
In a third message posted in the evening, Gottheimer discussed public health efforts in Bergen County related to vaccine accessibility. He tweeted, “Vaccines aren’t Democratic or Republican — they’re about keeping people safe. Every Tuesday and Saturday through the end of March, Bergen County will be hosting free Vaccine Clinics for you and your family.” (February 19, 2026).
Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th district since defeating Scott Garrett in the 2016 election and taking office in January 2017. Born in Livingston in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff at age 48, he holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Law School.
