Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, posted a series of updates on social media addressing both public safety during severe winter weather and his personal advocacy for sarcoidosis research.
On February 22, 2026, Gottheimer urged caution as the region braced for a major storm. He wrote, “Please stay safe as New Jersey faces this upcoming winter storm. Thank you to our first responders and everyone working tirelessly to keep us safe in these conditions. For winter storm resources, stay updated with @ReadyNJ: https://t.co/jQqlGRYyIw”.
The following day, he shared a personal message about sarcoidosis awareness after losing his mother to the disease. On February 23, he stated, “Sarcoidosis is a devastating disease that too often goes undiagnosed and under-researched. After losing my wonderful mom to this illness, I know how urgent it is that we do more to support patients, families, and researchers working toward better treatments and, ultimately, a”.
Later on February 23 amid ongoing hazardous weather in North Jersey, Gottheimer updated constituents on local conditions: “We’ve had more than a foot of snow and blizzard conditions in North Jersey. Please continue to stay off the roads if you can, stay safe, & stay at home! https://t.co/MoyrZ2MeEA”.
Josh Gottheimer has served in Congress since replacing Scott Garrett in 2017. Born in Livingston in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff at age 48, Gottheimer holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
