Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, shared his concerns and initiatives through a series of posts on social media. The representative has been vocal on various critical issues affecting his constituents and beyond.

On April 18, 2025, Gottheimer addressed proposed cuts to Medicaid in the NJ-5 district, expressing his determination to safeguard healthcare for families in that area. He stated, “Tens of thousands of families in NJ-5 rely on Medicaid for affordable, quality health care — but proposed cuts by far-right extremists are putting them all at risk. I’ll fight tooth and nail to ensure our most vulnerable can access the critical health care benefits they need.”

Later on the same day, Gottheimer highlighted efforts alongside Liz Hirsh Naftali to secure the return of Edan Alexander, a New Jersey native and the sole living American held hostage by Hamas. Emphasizing the urgency of the situation, he wrote, “Liz Hirsh Naftali and I are fighting to bring Edan Alexander — an all-American kid from Jersey, and the last living American held hostage by Hamas terrorists — home. We must keep the pressure on and ensure every hostage remains front and center, every single day.”

The following day, on April 19, 2025, Gottheimer announced his leadership in promoting bipartisan legislation to enhance strategic security alliances with Israel, Greece, and Cyprus. He affirmed, “I’m proudly leading bipartisan legislation to strengthen our strategic security partnerships with Israel, Greece, and Cyprus. This legislation continues the fight to combat terrorism, bolster security in the Eastern Mediterranean, and hold bad actors accountable.”

Josh Gottheimer, aged 48, was born in Livingston, New Jersey, and resides in Wyckoff. He pursued his academic career at the University of Pennsylvania, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1997, followed by a Juris Doctor from Harvard University in 2004.
