Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, addressed several issues on September 1, 2025, through his official social media account.

In a post commemorating Labor Day, Gottheimer stated: “On Labor Day, we honor the hardworking men & women of labor who built our great country. We must always protect and build on the progress they’ve made.” (September 1, 2025).

Later that day, he criticized former President Donald Trump’s tariff policies, writing: “Trump’s Tariff Tax is squeezing American small businesses. We need to bring costs down to ensure our small businesses and entrepreneurs can grow and thrive. Trump’s reckless tariffs do the opposite.” (September 1, 2025).

In another message posted the same evening, Gottheimer congratulated Hackensack Meridian Health New Jersey for its achievements in stroke care: “Congratulations to @HMHNewJersey on being recognized for their award-winning stroke care! Jersey is proud to be home to some of the top medical care in the U.S. I’ll always fight to ensure they have the resources to keep our families healthy and safe.” (September 1, 2025).

Gottheimer has served as representative for New Jersey’s 5th District since defeating Scott Garrett in 2017. Born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff, he holds degrees from both the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University.
