Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, shared his views on social media regarding several issues affecting his constituents and beyond.
On May 12, 2025, Gottheimer expressed concern over the proposed $30K SALT cap for married couples, stating that it is insufficient. He wrote “A $30K SALT cap for married couples that also phases out just doesn’t cut it — and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in the SALT Caucus agree. It’s more of the Red Moocher States sticking it to Jersey.” Gottheimer believes this policy will lead to an exodus of families from New Jersey.
Later that day, at 21:58 UTC, he criticized travel conditions at Newark Airport during a busy holiday period. He described the situation as “absolutely unacceptable” and called upon Secretary Duffy and President Trump to allocate more resources promptly.
In a tweet posted on May 13, 2025, Gottheimer celebrated the reunion of Edan Alexander with his family. He stated “Edan Alexander has finally been reunited with his family.” while emphasizing their ongoing commitment to reuniting hostages with their loved ones.
Born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff, Josh Gottheimer holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University.
