Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, posted a series of tweets between May 11 and May 12, 2026, addressing topics ranging from technological innovation in the auto industry to calling out hate speech and promoting constituent services.
On May 11, Gottheimer shared his experience visiting an automotive technology company: “Great visiting @UVEye to see firsthand how AI and cutting-edge technology are transforming the auto industry. Companies like UVEye are creating good-paying jobs, strengthening our economy, and keeping America at the forefront of innovation. Proud to support the next generation https://t.co/ukQrcn4i2w”.
The following day, he responded publicly to an advertisement he described as both homophobic and antisemitic: “This ad is totally insane! As if homophobia wasn’t enough, you had to make it antisemitic, too, using a Star of David to label the Jew. I’ll always call out hate when we see it. https://t.co/cH8TLxbgXl”. This statement reflects Gottheimer’s ongoing stance against hate speech in public discourse.
Later on May 12, Gottheimer informed constituents about upcoming mobile office hours for assistance with federal agencies: “The #TeamGottheimer Constituent Services Team will be holding mobile office hours in Ridgefield Park and Montague Twp. today, Tuesday, May 12. If you’re experiencing an issue with your VA benefits, Social Security, Medicare, or need help with a federal agency, we’re here to https://t.co/9YJ1xKH2Zb”.
Gottheimer has served as the representative for New Jersey’s 5th District since defeating Scott Garrett in 2017. Born in Livingston in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff at age 48, he holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
