Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, addressed several pressing issues facing his constituents in a series of posts on October 30, 2025.
In his first post of the day, Gottheimer highlighted rising health insurance costs for families in New Jersey. He wrote, “Data shows Jersey families will pay 175% more on average for their health insurance premiums next year because ACA tax credits are expiring. We must work together to protect families from getting whacked with these insane costs.” (October 30, 2025).
Later that afternoon, Gottheimer commented on federal funding related to public safety and major sporting events. As Vice Chair of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Caucus, he stated: “I’m glad FEMA is finally getting funding out the door that I helped secure to keep the games safe. As Vice Chair of the @FIFAWorldCup 2026 Caucus, I’ll keep fighting to bring everyone together with one goal: the safety of New Jersey and our country.” (October 30, 2025).
That evening, Gottheimer raised concerns about federal funding for early childhood education programs. He posted: “Hundreds of Head Start programs — which touch the lives of millions of children and families in Jersey and across the country — will run out of federal funding at the end of the week. We need to work together in a bipartisan way to reopen the government and fund critical” (October 30, 2025).
Gottheimer was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff. He holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a JD from Harvard University.
He succeeded Scott Garrett as representative for New Jersey’s 5th district after winning election in 2017.
