Josh Gottheimer, a representative of New Jersey’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, has expressed his concerns through a series of tweets regarding recent federal decisions impacting firefighters and other areas of public service. Elected in 2017, Gottheimer has consistently advocated for the needs of his constituents, leveraging his educational background from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University for legislative purposes.
In a tweet dated April 29, 2025, Rep. Josh Gottheimer highlighted an issue regarding firefighter registry on the CDC’s website, saying: “Right now, the CDC’s website says: ‘Due to the reduction in force across NIOSH, firefighters can no longer enroll in the National Firefighter Registry for Cancer.’ What a slap in the face to our first responders. I’m fighting back with new legislation to protect this critical”.
Later that day, another tweet from Gottheimer on April 29, 2025, addressed the challenges faced by firefighters in securing necessary resources, while criticizing federal decisions, stating: “Even on a good day, firefighters are often left fighting for the resources they need to protect our communities. Now, the Trump Administration is gutting critical federal support. I’m fighting back with new legislation to stop these reckless cuts.”.
On April 30, 2025, Gottheimer further criticized President Trump’s administration, summarizing its actions as chaotic and ineffective: “100 days in, and President Trump has delivered nothing but chaos — slashing support for the VA, Social Security, FAA, and even cancer research. All without a single concrete step to bring costs down for hardworking families.”
Josh Gottheimer, 48, originally from Livingston, has demonstrated through these communications his continuous efforts to challenge administrative decisions while representing his district from Wyckoff, New Jersey.
