Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who represents New Jersey’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on October 20, 2025, addressing constituents about Diwali celebrations, an upcoming community event, and ongoing legislative efforts regarding health care costs.
In his first post of the day, Gottheimer extended greetings to those observing a major cultural holiday: “Happy #Diwali to everybody celebrating the festival of lights in New Jersey and around the world! I wish you and your loved ones brightness, hope, and happiness during this joyous holiday.” (October 20, 2025)
Later that afternoon, he invited residents to participate in a live discussion: “Join me TODAY at 2:30 PM for my 113th Cup of Joe with Josh — live on Facebook! I’ll be taking your questions and sharing updates on my work as we fight to lower health care costs, reopen the government, and more.” (October 20, 2025)
In an evening update, Gottheimer highlighted concerns over expiring health care tax credits: “If Congress doesn’t act, Affordable Care Act premium tax credits will expire at the end of this year. So, I’m working around-the-clock and across the aisle to try to reopen the government and protect families from skyrocketing health care costs.” (October 20, 2025)
Gottheimer has served as U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 5th District since defeating Scott Garrett in 2017. He was born in Livingston in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff. His educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctor from Harvard University.
