Representative Josh Gottheimer, who has served New Jersey’s 5th District in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently addressed several key issues affecting his constituents through a series of social media posts. Gottheimer, born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff, highlighted his office’s efforts to assist residents and commented on federal funding and trade policy.
On July 12, 2025, Gottheimer stated that “#TeamGottheimer’s all-star caseworkers have helped thousands of North Jersey residents cut through the red tape and get their Social Security checks, VA benefits, and IRS refunds they’ve earned. To date, we’ve clawed back more than $145 million in federal dollars for our”.
Later that day, he criticized the Trump Administration regarding education funding for New Jersey. On July 12, 2025, he posted: “It’s outrageous that the Trump Administration is blocking $143 million for New Jersey schools — with no explanation. That’s why I joined my colleagues in a letter to the Administration sounding the alarm on this disastrous funding freeze. This move will only undermine our”.
In another post on July 12, 2025, Gottheimer addressed trade policy and tariffs: “Enough with Trump’s reckless tariff chaos. It’s time we pass my bipartisan Tariff Review Act to return the power to impose tariffs to Congress and protect hardworking Jersey families from higher costs.”
Josh Gottheimer replaced Scott Garrett as representative of New Jersey’s 5th District in 2017. He holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania (1997) and a JD from Harvard University (2004).
