Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, addressed several issues in a series of tweets posted on May 5, 2026.

In his first post at 18:00 UTC, Gottheimer commented on the Supreme Court’s decision regarding access to the abortion pill Mifepristone. He stated, “Restoring access to the abortion pill Mifepristone was the right decision by the Supreme Court. But it is only temporary.

Let’s be clear: without access to safe and legal reproductive health care, women will die. The Supreme Court must uphold critical access for women across the”.

Later that day at 19:00 UTC, Gottheimer reflected on his recent participation in a local event, writing, “I had a great weekend with North Jersey families, veterans, first responders, and neighbors at Leonia Town Day!

It’s events like these that show the strength, spirit, and community that make North Jersey so special.”

At 20:00 UTC on May 5th, he condemned an act of antisemitic vandalism in Queens: “The swastika graffiti on synagogues and homes in Queens is a vile act of antisemitic hate and an assault on religious freedom.

This was no accident — it was targeted violence meant to terrorize a Jewish community. The suspect must be held fully accountable. There is no place for”.

Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th District since replacing Scott Garrett in Congress in 2017. Born in Livingston in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff, he holds degrees from both the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
