The Ramsey Recreation Commission announced on May 13 that the Phillies Home Run Derby will take place on Saturday, June 20 at Finch Park. Registration for the event is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.

The derby is open to boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 12. Participants will be divided into three age groups: ages 7 and 8, ages 9 and 10, and ages 11 and 12. The age cut-off dates are January 1, 2026 for girls and May 1, 2026 for boys.

Each participant is required to bring their own bat. According to event details, every child will have ten balls pitched by a machine during their turn. Scoring will be based on performance: one point is awarded for each fair ball hit, two points for a distant fly ball, and five points for a home run.

Awards will be given to the top three contestants in each category. These winners will also advance to the regional round of competition.

The Recreation Commission said this event provides an opportunity for young athletes in Ramsey to compete locally before moving on to higher levels.
