The Ramsey Environmental Commission/Green Team announced on April 1 that it will hold a plastic toy drive at the Farmers’ Market on Sunday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is part of the group’s Sustainable Jersey efforts and aims to collect gently used plastic toys for children in need.

The initiative matters because it supports both environmental sustainability and local families by giving new life to toys that might otherwise end up in landfills. The commission is partnering with Second Chance Toys, a non-profit organization focused on rescuing and recycling plastic toys.

Organizers said every donated toy helps keep plastic out of landfills while also providing playthings for children who may not otherwise have access to them. All donated toys should be clean, in working order, and free of missing or small parts. If batteries are required for operation, donors are encouraged to include fresh batteries.

Second Chance Toys operates with the goal to “rescue and recycle” plastic toys for children in need. Each collected item contributes both to environmental conservation efforts and community support programs.

Looking ahead, the Ramsey Environmental Commission/Green Team encourages residents to participate in this event as an opportunity to help reduce waste while making a positive impact on others.
