The Borough of Ramsey announced on Apr. 24 that it will hold a Shredding Day event on Saturday, May 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Main Street Commuter Parking Lot, located behind Starbucks, and will be held rain or shine.

Shredding Day offers Ramsey residents an opportunity to securely dispose of confidential documents. The borough is encouraging participants to bring their recycling materials in cardboard boxes or paper bags for easier handling.

According to the announcement, a Department of Public Works (DPW) worker will come directly to each vehicle to retrieve the paper items. Residents are asked to ensure that their boxes or bags are easily accessible from either the trunk or back seat of their vehicles.

There is a limit of three boxes per resident and a maximum weight of thirty pounds per participant, with no exceptions permitted. Only confidential documents will be accepted; items such as junk mail, photos, magazines, and birthday cards are not allowed for shredding during this event.

The borough also noted that staples, paper clips, and rubber bands do not need to be removed from documents prior to drop-off. Participation is limited exclusively to Ramsey residents.
