Ramapo College was awarded a Highly Established Action Plan Seal by the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, according to an April 20 announcement. The college is one of only four four-year institutions in New Jersey and among just 129 colleges and universities nationwide to receive this recognition.
The award highlights Ramapo’s work to promote nonpartisan democratic engagement and support students in becoming active voters. The seal is given to campuses that build strong nonpartisan action plans aimed at increasing student participation in democracy.
Sophia Kopreski, who graduated from Ramapo College with a major in political science and a minor in public policy, was named to the ALL IN Campus Democracy Student Voting Honor Roll this year. Only 168 students across the country received this honor. Kopreski served as co-president and co-founder of Project ARCH, a student club focused on civic engagement. She also participated in academic programs such as the Fulbright Summer Institute at Queen’s University Belfast and the Washington Internship Institute before being selected as a 2026 NYC Urban Fellow.
Ramapo’s Civic and Community Engagement Center leads initiatives like voter registration drives during National Voter Education Week, aiming to inform students about their registration status, voting districts, and candidates for office. These events are organized with help from student staff members and Andrew Goodman Ambassadors. Leading up to general elections, the center also manages data collection for New Jersey’s Ballot Bowl competition; Ramapo finished second in its division during the last two elections.
In recent years, Ramapo has repeatedly been recognized for its civic engagement efforts: it earned Highly Established Action Plan seals in both 2024 and 2022; Nora Rachou was named to the ALL IN Student Voting Honor Roll in 2023; Keren Ortega received similar honors in 2022; Ramapo was named an ALL IN Most Engaged Campus for Student Voting that same year; and it achieved Gold Campus status with an above-average student voter rate during the 2020 presidential election.
“The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge is proud to recognize the colleges and universities that have earned the Highly Established Action Plan Seal of recognition and the students named to the honor roll for their tireless commitment to increasing democratic engagement on their campuses,” said representatives from ALL IN.
