Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, has expressed concerns and personal sentiments through a series of tweets. Born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975, Gottheimer holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University. He currently resides in Wyckoff.
On May 11, 2025, Rep. Gottheimer highlighted his concern regarding the lack of progress in hostage negotiations by stating “It’s been months since the last hostage exchange, with no new meaningful progress from this Administration to bring them all home.” He urged President Trump to prioritize the release of Edan Alexander during an upcoming trip to the Middle East.
Later that day, he extended Mother’s Day wishes through another tweet: “Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms across Jersey!” He expressed gratitude towards his wife Marla and remembered his mother Gwenn.
In a subsequent post on May 11, Rep. Gottheimer shared his ongoing efforts for Edan Alexander’s release: “We are praying that… my constituent, American Edan Alexander, is finally released.” He reaffirmed his commitment to bringing Alexander and other hostages back home.
